There are 6 football stations. The stations consist of passing, catching, kicking, and properly carrying the football. Prior to this class students worked on these proper skills and techniques. Students at the stations demonstrate proper throwing technique of turning sideways, pointing their free hand at the target, and pointing the tip of the football at the target upon release to achieve a spiral. Proper technique for kicking the ball was to hold the ball over the kicking foot, lean their upper body forward, and kick with their toe pointing towards the ground. When kicking, I encouraged students to turn the ball sideways and hold the ball at both ends. This gave students a bigger object to strike which allowed them greater success. The stations were used with first graders through third graders. All ages executed the stations and skills without difficulty. The students participated at each station for 1 minute then rotated.
